hello I'm Liam Weaver founder and director of beam holistic therapy and beam development and training limited my business is focused solely upon helping people to feel happier and healthier whether that's at once one therapies such as hypnotherapy coaching EFT and other techniques or with unique well-being corporate training courses which we deliver to a wide mix of companies before establishing this business I had a very different life I'd spent all of my twenties believing that life was about achieving things I spent all of my time working hard gaining qualifications I've got a post-grad in Human Resources then I became an accountant I bought a home then a bigger home I got married got a car then a newer car and so on and so on so the outside world I was doing well I'd become an accountant had my own bookkeeping an accountancy practice had a large house nice cars and lots and lots of material stuff but I woke up one morning and found I was totally miserable I felt I couldn't tell anyone as I knew people believed I had it all the unhappiness grew and grew and so I couldn't ignore it I couldn't put my finger on it but I knew I was deeply unhappy the life I had so painstakingly created and participated in this unhappiness led me to change in every aspect of my life to starting again from the beginning my degree had been in psychology and I started to remember how much help in and understanding people thrilled me I started to learn lots of new therapeutic techniques and I set up my own business with the sole intention of helping people to feel happier and healthier over the years of running my business I've met such a huge variety of people who may be struggling with something relatively simple like performance anxiety for an interview so people who were suicidal and have lost their way I've learned that our mental health is just like our physical health we can have times where we feel great full of energy and times where we feel so low it's hard to get out of bed it's become apparent that nobody is immune to struggling with their mental health at times just like nobody goes through life without ever having a bug or virus I'm passionate about helping everyone to feel empowered to care for their minds health by teaching them simple and practical techniques in order to deal with those low times whether they felt like that for a day or four years today's course will focus upon five powerful techniques that you can keep in mind should you find yourself struggling with five of the main mental health issues we'll be looking at worrying many people believe that they're born warriors but we don't have to be we'll deal with anxiety when worrying last longer we can feel anxiety in all situations stress stress is a natural human response recourses a great deal of harm if we stay in a stressful state burn out our bodies and minds can only take so much and eventually we could find ourselves facing burnout and we'll finish with negative thinking the voice in our heads can often lead us down a very negative path so by the end of this course you'll be able to identify peaks and troughs in your own mental health have five tools to use to deal with your own mental health and have an understanding of how to be mindful of the mental health of those around you so let's get started
