Por que os mantras não são em português? (subtitles: PT-EN-NL-FR)

‘Why are mantras not in Portuguese?’ Sound is vibration. Vibration is energy. Mantras are words, phrases that we say, which have a specific meaning. In fact,
translating mantras is very difficult, there are several levels of
meaning that we can give. This is a special quality
of Sanskrit as well. So if we made mantras in
Portuguese or English it would be very difficult,
because we would end up focusing on only one meaning. But there are yet two more reasons
that come to mind now, why we make mantras in Sanskrit. Not in Tibetan, nor in Portuguese
or any other language. Mantras are originally in Sanskrit. One reason is because it is said that when I’m going to repeat
a mantra, for example, OM MANI PEME HUNG or OM MUNI
MUNI MAHA MUNI SHAKYAMUNIYE SOHA, or any other mantra,
there are thousands, I’m reciting something that was recited
with an intention similar to mine for centuries, and centuries,
and centuries, in the very same way. So it is said that the more
you use a word, a phrase with a certain intention,
the stronger that word becomes. So when I recite a mantra today,
it’s as if I’m connecting with the energy that was generated,
the intention that was generated, for centuries, by the people
who were reciting it. That is one reason. Another reason is: in Sanskrit there is a science
that in Tibetan is called dra drup, which is the composition of the sound, in which it is said that
each letter has an element: water, earth, fire, wind, space, and the elements, among them,
have a way of relating, of increment, of decrease, which is called relationship of
mother, son, friend, enemy. So what happens? If we have a word, for example,
be it a word of pacification, where its meaning is to pacify, we will try to do it in a way where
the composition of the sound unites the relation of each letter so that the energy that exists
between one letter and another, generates the same energy
of the meaning of the word. So if we have a word
that is of growth, we will have a format in which
the energy of the sound itself will be an energy that
will generate growth. So, in reality, sound is vibration,
vibration is energy and in Sanskrit there is a great care- I tried to study some of this, I never had
the opportunity to do it in a deeper way- however, the formation of mantras is
very complex, but there is a lot of care in the energy of each vibration and in
the way one sound is relating to the other, so we can have a formula that generates that
kind of energy that we want to generate.
