3 Steps to Revival in Christianity

3 Steps to Revival in Christianity

This video is an attempt to distill down, in as few words as possible the essence of all the videos on this YouTube channel. It just happens that what most of the videos are trying to say is also a proven recipe for spiritual revival. I would almost say it’s a formula for worldwide revival. But, of course, I can’t guarantee how many people are going to accept the recipe. So, let’s just talk about what a dramatic change it would make for just one life…your life if you followed this recipe. I don’t care whether you’re a bum on the street or the president of the United States. If you will follow the three steps in this video I’m convinced that you will see your life transformed in such a powerful way, that you’ll never be the same again. So, let me get started. There are three simple steps to spiritual revival. 1) Quit your job. 2) Sell everything you have. 3) Go into all the world and preach the gospel. That’s it! You could almost stop the video here and go do those three things now, to the best of your ability and I’m sure that you would have a powerful impact on the world that would be many times greater than anything that you’re doing at the moment. But I will elaborate a little bit more. Okay, so we have number one: quit your job. When Jesus walked along the shores of the sea of Galilee, he saw some men fishing (four of them) Peter, his brother Andrew, and two other brothers named James and John. He told them to leave their nets, and leave their fishing boats, and come with him to catch men instead. In one story, we ready about Peter making one last attempt to catch fish. He ended up catching so many fish that his boat started to sink. And that was just before he left it all to follow Jesus. So, it wasn’t that Peter was a failure as a fisherman and decided to change jobs. No, he saw something in Jesus…something which was far better than working for money. Now, here’s what Jesus had to say on this subject of working for God as opposed to working for money. He said, “Don’t work for the food that perishes. Work for what will give you eternal life. “Work for me. That’s why the Father sent me here.” In another place he said, “Come to me all you weary workers, and I’ll give you rest. “Take my yoke upon you (that means, “work for me”) and learn from me “for I am meek and humble, and you will find rest for your souls. “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Then again, he said, “No employee can work for two employers at the same time. “You will end up cheating one or the other. “You cannot work for God and also work for money.” So, quitting your job was the absolute first step in following Jesus. He saw Matthew, the tax collector, sitting down collecting taxes, and he said, “Follow me”. What did Matthew do? Well, he left his job, and he followed Jesus. It’s the same today as it was then. That is step number one; everything else flows from it. When we stop working for money, is when we start working for Jesus. Because until you stop working for money, you will not have the time to work for Jesus. I don’t care what your job is; even if you are a world famous evangelist. God would want you to quit your job. He knows that you would have more impact for him by quitting your present job than you’ve ever had so far in your life. Why is that? Because you would be doing it Jesus’ way. And so far, the world has not seen that…not anywhere in any of the churches. And that has to include your ministry. Yes, you say you’re already working for God but on closer examination, you’ll discover that it’s all according to traditional religious rules that Jesus never made. Believe me, if you threw it all in it would be the opening to a truly eternal ministry, in obedience to Jesus. Quitting his job is what Jesus wanted Nicodemus to do, but Nicky didn’t have the faith for it. After all, he was already a very successful religious leader. So, Nicodemus went back to the Sanhedrin, and back to relative oblivion when he could have been one of the twelve apostles if he had been willing to let go of all his religious experience, and let Jesus call the shots. Don’t spiritualize it! Don’t pretend to be wrestling with the deeper implications of what Jesus was saying. Just do it! Stop working for money! It’s what Jesus taught from start to finish, and it’s what the early church did. It started a revolution that changed the world. Well, you can’t do any better than that, can you? So, stop trying to do it your way, and do it God’s way. Now we come to step number two: sell everything you own. Sell it! Don’t “forsake it in your heart”. Turn all those assets into cash and then start giving it away. The Bible says, “Be content with food and clothes”. It doesn’t even mention accommodation. So go ahead; keep enough to feed and clothe yourself, but give the rest away to who have less than you. Not to your family and your friends, but to genuinely poor people like yourself. If you have enough, you may even be able to go to countries where you don’t have to be an alcoholic or a drug addict to be poor. Seek them out, and give what you have to them. Now, step number three: go into all the world, preaching the gospel. But what is the gospel? Well, it’s what I’ve just said in this video. It’s as simple as that. It’s more than that, of course, but what I’ve said here is the part that keeps getting left out and it’s the part which, if you don’t do it, makes everything else that is preached to be unfruitful. The gospel (or good news) is that the Son of God, Jesus Christ, came to Earth to build a whole new world which he called the Kingdom of Heaven. The full title of what we’ve been told to preach is the gospel (or good news) of this kingdom. It’s an eternal kingdom. The people who do what it takes to become a part of this kingdom are going to live forever. Not even death, as we know it now, can stop us. Eternal life. Eternal bliss. But we have to do something to get it. Yeah, you heard me right. We have to do something. Many of you have been told you don’t need to do anything. But I’m here to tell you that you do. What you have to do is believe…not me, not your pastor…believe Jesus, the Son of God. The one who came to set up this kingdom. Without that, you’re not going to inherit the kingdom. You must believe Jesus, and most of you have never even listened to him. The world is full of religious counterfeits: human organizations with human rules. All of them leave out these three simple steps that Jesus established for the building of his kingdom. Why? Well, because they don’t have faith in Jesus. They don’t believe him when he tells us to do these things. And without faith in what he actually said, the Bible tells us it’s impossible to please God. Without faith, there is no salvation. Without faith in Jesus, there is no forgiveness of sins. Now, if you most of you are honest, you would have to admit that in all your years of experience in so-called Christianity, you never once seriously even listened to Jesus. You have listened to everyone except Jesus and then convinced yourself that your faith is Christian faith, in Jesus. Well, I’m here to tell you it’s time to start over listening to Jesus this time, not even listening to me; open your Bible and read the four gospels. Listen to what Jesus set as his requirements for discipleship, and you’ll see it’s always been the same. Quit your job, sell everything you have, and go into all the world preaching the gospel. It’s what those first Christians did after Jesus returned to heaven. You can read about it in the second chapter of Acts. Everyone who believed lived together, and they shared everything they had. They sold their possessions and goods and shared them with everyone, as everyone had need. And every day, they continued in unity in the temple, and in various houses where they ate their meals together doing it all joyfully and in unity with each other. So, there you have it. The three steps to revival. It’ll be worldwide revival if we can get even 100 people to do the same thing. If you want to be a part of it, I know of a small handful of such people scattered around the world on five different continents. If you would like to follow those three steps, and if you would like to do it in unity with others who are doing the same thing, please contact me. I’ll try to put you in touch with someone from your area of the world who is living this way already. By living and working together 24/7, you may be able to find others who want to live this way too. It won’t be easy, but the rewards are more than worth it. You can write to me at the address on the screen at the moment; I look forward to hearing from you today. Peace!
